Senior Accountant, New York, NY
Wells Group is seeking a Senior Accountant with 1-5 years experience in practical accounting. Wells Group is a boutique management consulting firm offering CFO (finance & accounting) and COO (strategy & operations) advisory for startups and mid-sized companies. Our engagements range in scope and span across multiple industries, including consumer goods & services, healthcare, and tech, among others. We run extremely flat and are looking for someone that can not only execute, but become a core member of our team and contribute to the mission, vision, and culture both at Wells Group and for our clients. This is a salaried full-time position.
The job will be a mix of practical accounting (e.g. financial reporting), operations, and analytical tasks. Excellent potential for growth based on performance and motivation.
What You’ll Do:

Manage period-end close for multiple companies across different industries
-
Develop and enforce robust closing procedures
-
Create and maintain account reconciliation workpapers to support financial statements

Perform budget vs. actual variance analysis and help clients recognize business trends
-
Fix, improve and/or create financial statements and related processes for high-growth start-ups
-
Assist team with ad hoc analysis and deliverables – including financial model development and actualization, cash flow forecasting, periodic financial performance dashboards, system integration support, account analysis using high volume transaction data, etc.
What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in finance, business, or accounting; CPA preferred

Ability to analyze financial data and communicate findings effectively to clients

Strong accounting and finance knowledge and skills, including financial statement preparation

Proficiency in Microsoft Suite with emphasis on Excel

Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g. Quickbooks, Xero, Netsuite)

A passion to work and partner with start-ups and mid-size companies that need direction and advisement as they grow

Ability to develop professional relationships with executives at varying levels within the business

Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing

Someone who can execute well and flourish in an entrepreneurial environment
