Peak Performance at the US Open and in Business

Walking into Arthur Ashe Stadium for the first round of the US Open is unlike anything else. The late summer New York air hums with electricity, the crowd builds with every step, and you can feel that unmistakable mix of anticipation and ambition. It’s the kind of environment where legends are tested and the next generation rises to meet the moment.

Day 1: With J.P. Morgan

Thanks to Kelly Korwan, John Seo, and the J.P. Morgan fintech innovation team, I had the privilege of experiencing Day 1 up close. Watching one of my favorites, Ben Shelton, alongside so many other young stars and established champions, was as thrilling as it was inspiring.

What struck me wasn’t just the artistry of the rallies or the speed of the serves, it was the belief and preparation behind them. Peak performance doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the product of years of work, resilience under pressure, and the courage to swing big when the spotlight is brightest.

Day 2: With Fevo and Josh Rose

On Day 2, I joined Josh Rose and the FEVO team, and the experience was just as energizing. The conversations in the stands were as dynamic as the matches on the court, centered on bold ideas, innovation, and what it means to disrupt established systems with new thinking.

The parallels to business are clear. Just as fearless young players redefine the sport with speed, creativity, and courage, emerging companies in fintech and beyond challenge incumbents by embracing risk, thinking differently, and building with relentless drive. Innovation, like athletic excellence, comes from discipline, imagination, and the willingness to take risks when it matters most.

Taking the Mindset Forward

As we head into the final stretch of the year, I’m carrying forward that US Open mindset, channeling the discipline, resilience, and boldness I saw on the court into my own work. Whether in sports or in business, peak performance is about preparation, courage under pressure, and the belief that disruption can create something better.

Thank you, J.P. Morgan and Fevo, for the unforgettable experience, two days that were as inspiring for business as they were thrilling for tennis.
